Pumpstock set to entertain E.L. community

May 31, 2011

As the weather in East Lansing continues to heat up, so does the area’s summer music scene.

For the fan of outdoor festivals, Pumpstock 2011 will take place from noon to 6 p.m. on Saturday at East Lansing Bailey Community Center park, 300 Bailey St.

The festival will be headlined by Sonia Leigh and Levi Lowrey, who are signed to Southern Ground. In addition, local favorites Jill Jack and Lindsay Lou & The Flatbellys are scheduled to perform.

In addition to the headlining acts, the festival will feature a second stage hosting local entertainment, such as Lansing’s Ukulele Ladies.

Between acts, there will be jugglers, local musicians, face painters and Barnaby the Bird to entertain fans.

Attendees are encouraged to bring chairs and blankets to enhance the festival experience. There will be free parking in the Bailey subdivision and at the community center.

Student admission to the event is $5 upon presentation of student IDs. For a suggested donation of $10, attendees will be given a button for access throughout the day with all proceeds going to the artists.
