Spartan Idol to be held on Saturday

November 18, 2010

Students will sing and rap for the chance to win the “Spartan Idol: Best of Both Worlds” competition at 9 p.m. Saturday in the International Center.

Students who participate in the singing portion of the competition will be judged and narrowed down to the top four by an audience vote and a panel of representatives
from the MSU College of Music.

The first and second place winners will receive gift cards to Best Buy, and the third place finalist will be given tickets for two to see “Stomp” at Wharton Center.

The rap battle will be judged by a measurement of the audience’s applause.

Bryan Jones from local hip-hop station 96.5-FM will be the DJ for the event along with Los Angeles-based comedian and rapper MC Mr. Napkins, who will emcee the event.

First through third place winners from the rap contest will receive Beats by Dr. Dre headphones.

The winners from both competitions will be announced at the end of the show.
