E.L accepting block grant applications

The city of East Lansing now is accepting applications for the Community Development Block Grant, or CDBG, and the General Fund Human Service Activities budget. Both apply to fiscal year 2011-12.

Any organization providing a service — such as legal, literacy or youth programs — to East Lansing residents is eligible.

Current recipients of one of the grants include Hometown Housing Partnerships Inc., Haven House homeless shelter, Capital Area Center for Independent Living and Listening Ear.

The submission deadline is 5 p.m. on Dec. 17. Applicants can visit cityofeastlansing.com to download an application, or call the Department of Planning & Community Development at (517) 319-6930.

A Grant Application Workshop will be held at 4 p.m. on Dec. 2 in Conference Room A at East Lansing City Hall, 410 Abbot Road.
