October 18, 2010

Senior linebacker Greg Jones was named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week following his 14-tackle effort against Illinois, the conference announced Monday.

An MSU player has earned conference player of the week after all seven games, and Jones earns his second honor of the season. He was first named player of the week after the Spartans’ Sept. 25 win against Northern Colorado.

Additionally, sophomore kicker Dan Conroy was named National Placekicker of the Week and redshirt freshman kicker Kevin Muma was named National Kickoff Specialist of the Week by College Football Performance Awards.
