Men's golf finishes 12th in Rhode Island

The MSU men’s golf team finished 12th at the 17th annual Adams Cup of Newport on Tuesday at Newport National Golf Club in Newport, R.I.

The team turned in a final score of 59-over par in the two-day event, which had 17 participating teams.

The team shot a 19-over par in the final round Tuesday, led by sophomore James Ross’ 1-over par. Ross finished 24th individually, along with junior Chris Mory at 33rd, freshman Conor O’Neil at 55th, junior Dave Ellis at 70th and freshman Carson Castellani at 86th.

Central Florida won the team event by 18 shots over second-place finisher West Florida. Central Florida’s Greg Eason won the individual title with 2-under par.

The Spartans’ next event is Oct. 4-5 in Daufuskie Island, S.C.
