Spartan basketball to head to Maui

For the third time in school history, the MSU men’s basketball team will take on the Chaminade Swords when the two teams play in the opening round of the EA Sports Maui Invitational at 9:30 p.m. Nov. 22 in Maui, Hawaii. It will be the first time the two teams have faced each other since 2005, when the Spartans beat the Swords, 89-67, also at the Maui Invitational.

Next season’s Maui Invitational will be the 27th and features three 2010 NCAA Tournament teams and a total of 11 national championships.

Tickets to the tournament go on sale for the general public at 3 p.m. Aug. 25 on mauiinvitational.com. Spartan fans have the opportunity to be a part of the MSU Alumni Association’s 2010 Maui Invitational Basketball Tour and can find more information by visiting msusportstours.com/basketball.
