Women's basketball team loses Schiffauer for season

Sophomore was leading team in scoring through 2 games

November 19, 2009

The MSU women’s basketball team announced that sophomore forward Courtney Schiffauer will miss the remainder of the season after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in her right knee Tuesday.

Schiffauer looked poised to have a breakout season after leading the team in points (16.5), rebounds (7.5) and assists (4.0) through the first two games. She had drained 8-of-13 shots from 3-point range.

This is the fourth straight season the team has lost a player to a torn ACL. In 2006, it was center Lauren Aitch. In 2007, it was forward Aisha Jefferson. In 2008 it was forward Taja Wilson, and in February guard Brittney Thomas tore hers.
