Freshmen fifteen Q's

March 3, 2009

Meet Becca Stolarsky

1. Where is your hometown?

Solon, Ohio.

2. Do you feel homesick at all?

Not now. I used to in the beginning of the year. I was originally going to transfer, but now I like it.

3. What made you want to transfer?

I didn’t really know anyone when I was coming here. I don’t know, it was just hard in the beginning.

4. Where would you have transferred?

I’ll probably get in big trouble for this, but Ohio State (University).

5. What’s that one thing you miss from back home?

I miss Panera (Bread), which is weird because there’s one right by here, but I never go.

6. What was appealing to you about MSU in the beginning?

Just that it was so big, and … I really like the big atmosphere and that there’s so many opportunities and everything.

7. What sets MSU apart from other colleges?

I think that it just gave me a lot of opportunities to meet new people. Like, if I went to school in Ohio, I would have been friends with the same people that I normally would have been in high school and everything.

8. Are you involved in campus activities?

Well, I’m in a sorority, which helped with the whole friends thing.

9. Why did you “go greek” freshman year?

Just because I knew that it’s a great way to make friends. I knew that it’s, like, a ton of fun and it’s a great way to be social with other people.

10. Your best friend also is from Ohio. How did you meet her?

Support student media! Please consider donating to The State News and help fund the future of journalism.

Actually, the bid day for our sorority … I was in, like, a limo on our way to go to some activity. And we were going around the limo saying where we were from and everything, and I heard this girl say that she was from a town that sounded really familiar. That’s how that all happened. She’s one of my best friends here now.

11. How would you describe the college life so far?

It’s been pretty easy. I haven’t really been that homesick. I’m a pretty livable person, so me and my roommate get along really well.

12. What residence hall do you live in?

East Wilson (Hall).

13. What are your hopes for the future?

Right now I’m majoring in journalism, but I don’t particularly like to write for newspapers or magazines because I think it’s really stressful. So hopefully try to find something in PR, or something along those lines.

14. What’s your dream job?

Probably, I don’t know, like a party planner or something. I like organizing stuff, and I think I’m pretty creative.

15. What’s your favorite class so far?

I liked my journalism class I took last semester, Journalism 108. The teacher was really lively.
