Freshmen fifteen Q's

February 3, 2009

Phillips

College is a whole new world for many freshmen traveling campus for the first time. The State News sat down with one of these brave explorers to get a glimpse, in 15 questions or fewer, at a new face on campus and her perspective on her new frontier.

MEET LAUREN PHILLIPS

1. What is your major?
Zoology.

2. What is your hometown?
Howell, Michigan.

3. What do you think about MSU??
I love it. I really love it here. I actually feel comfortable here; I love all the trees, the nature. I don’t feel like high school, where you kinda felt like you were in a prison. I don’t know. I’m just generally satisfied being here. There’s really nothing that bothers me.

4. How do you like living in the dorms?
?Yeah, I don’t mind it. This is about how big my room was at home, and I always shared a room so it’s not a big adjustment.

5. Who is your favorite celebrity?
?That’s hard, I don’t really follow celebrities, but I guess he was a celebrity, but he died, Steve Irwin, Crocodile hunter. He was my hero.

6. What do you really think of Sparty?
?Sparty? I love Sparty, I think he’s adorable. I think he’s probably one of the coolest mascots I’ve seen and I don’t watch sports whatsoever. Like, the ones I’ve seen pictures of just aren’t as cool. He’s really cool.

7. What is your favorite meal in the cafeteria?
?Whenever they have fried okra, I swear I go up like three times trying to get some, so probably the fried okra.

8. How do you like your classes?
?I like them. I definitely prefer smaller classes, you know? A smaller lecture is fine, but the smaller classes I like a lot better. I’m not a fan of the bigger lectures, because I really like to get to know the professors.

9. If you could say anything to your roommate what would you say??
I really appreciate her understanding for my crazy dreams. Yes, I talk in my sleep and sometimes I panic and scream and jump out of the bed and turn the lights on. Yeah, she’s a really good person. She’s very sweet.
