Food bank to hold drive on Saturday

August 5, 2008

A food drive will be held on Saturday to benefit the Greater Lansing Food Bank, and nonperishable food items or monetary donations will be accepted.

Donations can be brought to the L & L Food Center on Waverly Street and Saginaw Highway between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.

The drive is sponsored by Trinity AME Church, WQHH 96.5 FM and L & L Food Centers, according to a press release.

“We have a lot of those (food drives) going on,” said Sharon Krinock, executive director of the Greater Lansing Food Bank. “This was just a one day thing to bring a little more into our pantry.”

Donations of non-perishable foods, including canned soup, dry goods and canned fruit and vegetables, in non-glass containers are preferred, she said.
