I witnessed what would normally be a heartwarming scene in the International Center. There was a table set up with a great big banner supporting the Olympics. Happy students were signing it. I searched the faces of those sitting around the lobby for someone thinking about why this is controversial. No one had an objection.
I object. I cannot support the Olympics because its host country is committing terrible crimes against Tibet. China has been wielding its tyrannical power over Tibet for 50 years now. How can none of the people around that table have a logical opposition to this? How can they not find a problem in signing a banner supporting China when it is severely abusing a smaller, almost defenseless nation?
