Arguments about evolution, global warming do nothing

This letter is written in response to John Bice’s column Evolution exists, should be taught (SN 1/7).

The state of the evolution and creation debate reminds me so much of the global warming debate. Everyone is so hung up on whether global warming is created by humans or a natural cycle that no one cares about whether climate change is something we need to be worried about.

Yeah, evolution happens. Does it help us understand the world around us better? Yeah.

Is science getting to the point that our imaginations can conceive of us as a species creating new forms of life and populating other planets? Yes. Both sides are stuck in the mud shouting that they are right, but the people participating in these debates aren’t doing anything productive and are only concerned with proving the other side wrong.
