Jewish-American author to detail West Bank experience

November 13, 2007

Anna Baltzer, a Jewish-American activist and author, will present her experience in the West Bank at 7 p.m. today in room B102 Wells Hall.

Presented as part of a national speaking tour, Baltzer’s stories and photographs document the human rights abuses she witnessed and her support of nonviolent resistance with the International Women’s Peace Service.

Chris Singer, development and public relations facilitator for Michigan Peace Team, said he thought Baltzer’s experiences as a Jewish-American woman could speak to both sides of the issue with the conflict in Palestine and Israel.

“Multiracial peace in Palestine and Israel is important to peace in the Middle East,” he said.

Baltzer is the author of “Witness in Palestine: A Jewish American Woman in the Occupied Territories.”

The presentation is sponsored by Michigan Peace Team and MSU’s Peace and Justice Studies program. For more information, visit www.michiganpeaceteam.org or www.annainthemiddleeast.com
