Right-wing columnist too paranoid about leftists

Nate Sherman, in his column Western culture worth the fight (SN 9/12), wrote with seeming devastation in regard to the decay of Western civilization. I can say, without reservation, that I have never in my life read or heard anything more ignorant, pompous and ill informed.

In his column, Sherman writes in a paranoid fashion of the evils of leftists and the “hordes of liberalism.” I am a part of this so-called “affront to Christian morality,” as it is common knowledge that church and state are to remain separate entities, as written in the Constitution. Sherman’s words, though staunchly in opposition to what he deems as mere “subversion,” are themselves rather subversive. It is seditious and unconstitutional to declare that Christian morals must be made law.

Sherman also discusses the need for America to return to a “homogeneous” culture. It is rather difficult, however, to determine what single American culture he wishes for this nation to return to, as American culture has never been homogeneous. Urbanites, suburbanites, country folk, northerners, southerners – these are all different peoples with their own lifestyles, their own ethics, their own mannerisms and their own culture. If Sherman wishes America to return to this “Christendom,” then this only means regressing back to WASP (white Anglo-Saxon Protestant) culture. Blacks, Jews and other minorities are not to permeate white neighborhoods, and any WASP associating with them is, by default, trash.

My advice to Sherman: Check the Bible and tell me if you see the signatures of the Founding Fathers.
