Ricka Tien, manager of Spartan Hall of Fame Cafe, was in charge of acquiring the memorabilia — a collection of authentic items on loan to the restaurant from MSU’s athletic department. The restaurant opened its doors Aug. 22.

“We have things from the men’s basketball department, the men’s football department, baseball, track — everything,” Tien said. “We also have replicas of MSU’s championship banners, scaled down for the restaurant.”

Several cases protecting the memorabilia, as well as banners and a life-size picture of former men’s basketball player Jason Richardson, cover most of the wall space in the restaurant, the former location of Damon’s Grill.

Restaurant owner Steve Montanye has 18 years of restaurant management experience, having previously owned and operated Damon’s Grill.

Montanye said he worked with Jon Self, the owner of the Buckeye Hall of Fame Caf
