In the time it takes the average person to make one sandwich, Landon Hall cook Gilbert Manuell skillfully crafts a handful of wraps and sandwiches and collects orders for more.
“I make as good of food I can and as fast as I possibly can,” he said.

Manuell has worked as a residence hall cafeteria cook for eight years and his speed and personality have earned him a reputation with students.
The Lansing resident said word of mouth about his cooking skills, as well as what he calls an ability to “sell the product,” help him build notoriety and friendships with students.
“Sometimes I get them lined up all the way out the door. They may not like the wait, but they will wait,” he said.
