Feces from an unknown vandal caused $410 in damage between 12:20-1:20 p.m. Saturday in Mason Hall, MSU police Sgt. Florene McGlothian-Taylor said. The problem was reported to police when a 19-year-old female student told a male university employee her clothes were covered in feces after they were in the dryer for an hour. In an effort to recover the clothing, the effected pieces were soaked in a large bathtub with laundry detergent. Attempts to salvage the clothing were not successful.Among the items ruined were seven multicolored shirts worth $140, four pairs of pants worth $120 and numerous multicolored undergarments worth $50.It's unsure whether the feces were in the dryer before the clothes were added, or if someone put the feces in during the drying cycle, McGlothian-Taylor said. The university employee said he believed the feces were from a dog because of the odor, she added. There are no suspects.A 20-year-old male with no university affiliation reported $2,500 worth of goods stolen from his 2004 Mercury Sable at 2 a.m. on Sunday, McGlothian-Taylor said. The Greenville resident had said he thought he locked his car when he parked it on Auditorium Road near the Alumni Memorial Chapel. Missing items included a $2,000 Dell Inspiron laptop, $50 bag for the computer, $90 microeconomics text book, $60 pair of shoes, two sweaters valued at $110, 10 T-shirts valued at $100, $20 dress shirt and $30 pair of jeans.
