DeVos improves, Granholm still wins

Two down, one to go.

Democratic Gov. Jennifer Granholm and Republican candidate Dick DeVos continued their attacks in the second of three televised debates Tuesday night.

While DeVos' speaking ability improved significantly from the first debate just a week before, his pro-business stance was the same. With stricter rules than the previous debate, Granholm was less able to dominate the discussion because of timed answers.

The hot topic of debate was, once again, Michigan's struggling economy. Granholm again laid out her economic plan, and DeVos maintained his moot stand that the state needs "change," but we're still unsure of exactly what changes DeVos plans to make.

One surprising statement came from Granholm when she said she supported the ridiculous plan to build a wall on the U.S.-Mexico border.

Still, Granholm again came out on top because of her vastly superior debating skills (akin to former President Clinton, as a Detroit News article said), but, like DeVos, offered little new information since the last debate.

The election is fast approaching — if you don't see what you're looking for in DeVos or Granholm, you should check out the Web sites of the other candidates running for governor before voting on Nov. 7.

Other candidates include Libertarian Greg Creswell (www.gregcreswell.org), Green Party candidate Douglas Campbell (www.votecampbell2006.org) and Constitution Party candidate Bhagwan Dashairya
