Irish music group to give free performance

July 20, 2006

Rare Combination, an Irish/Celtic group, will be giving a free performance at 7 p.m. Friday at Lake Lansing Park-South, located at the corner of Pike Street and Marsh Road in Haslett.

The band, which formed in spring 2004, garnered its name from the unlikely members in the group. The band is made up of a real estate agent, a Catholic priest, a music therapist and an emerging teen musician. The band plays a variety of music styles including Irish dance music, pub songs, rebel songs, ballads, love songs, slow airs and contemporary folk music.

The concert will be held at the Lake Lansing Community Bandshell. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own blankets or lawn chairs. There is free parking available inside the park.

The concert is part of the Lake Lansing Bandshell Performance Committee's ongoing free family-oriented community concerts. The concerts will take place on Friday evenings throughout the summer.
