The bartender

June 16, 2006
Bartender Ryan Kosecki prepares "The Jack Bauer," a mix of tequila, peach schnapps, pineapple juice and grenadine at the Riviera Cafe Restaurant and Lounge, 231 M.A.C. Ave. Kosecki said the crew at The Riv created "The Jack Bauer" by thinking about what they pictured Bauer drinking. He said the drink can be dangerous since it is made with tequila, but doesn't taste very strong.

Jack Bauer, hero of the popular TV show "24" is smooth, chill and refreshing. He's also deadly, with the ability to knock you out before you even realize what's happening.

The drink named after his likeness plays the same game.

The Riviera Cafe Restaurant and Lounge, 231 M.A.C. Ave., will send you on an edge-of-your-seat thriller if you choose to take on the mission. In this episode, the Jack Bauer effectively sends tequila undercover using the guise of peach schnapps, pineapple juice and a splash of grenadine.

This unique mix of devilishly sweet ingredients creates a satisfying blend, which is delicious enough to make you and your friends attempt a 24-round adventure.

The light nature of the shot's harmonious elements and the rich taste might lead you to believe this is going to be an easy mission. However, caution is strongly advised as the masquerade of deceitful ingredients serves to hide a surprisingly powerful explosion of tequila.

Bauer might knock you down before the first commercial break. The drink's innocent looking pink hue doesn't help matters much either. If you think throwing back a few of these is going to be a cakewalk, you're in for a long night.

Manager Ryan Kosecki and the rest of The Riv crew explained that the drink was made with Bauer's likeness simply because it's what they picture him drinking.

Kosecki said that due to the extreme nature of the drink's essence, he usually takes off his shirt in order to make it.

Do you have what it takes, operative? Can you run with Jack Bauer? The clock is ticking.
