A 27-year-old student reported a small fire caused by an experiment with sulfur in the Chemistry Building at about 8 p.m. Thursday, MSU police Sgt. Florene McGlothian-Taylor said. The student said he put the fire out with water a few seconds after it started and there was no damage. The East Lansing Fire Department checked out the building and confirmed that everything was all right.A 22-year-old student reported her backpack stolen from the Business College Complex at about 7:40 a.m. Wednesday, McGlothian-Taylor said. The student said she arrived early to class, and an unidentified man was in the room. She left her backpack unattended while she left the classroom for a few minutes. When she got back, her bag and the man were both gone. The backpack and its contents are valued at $360.A 19-year-old student reported his backpack stolen from a Hubbard Hall study lounge when he left it unattended between 12 and 1:30 a.m. Wednesday, McGlothian-Taylor said. The loss is valued at $20.A 20-year-old student reported a $250 window broken in the East Wilson study room at about 9 p.m. on March 17, McGlothian-Taylor said. It appeared that someone had kicked the window.A 20-year-old student reported a $100 window broken in a door at the Law Library between 8:45 and 8:55 p.m. on March 17, McGlothian-Taylor said. The window had been kicked by an unknown male, McGlothian-Taylor said.A 22-year-old student reported his cell phone and shoes stolen from the IM Sports-Circle first-floor basketball gym between 8 and 8:20 p.m. on March 20, McGlothian-Taylor said. The student said he left the items unattended on the northwest bleachers. The items are valued at $200.A 62-year-old man reported his wallet stolen from the Clinical Center between 2:30 and 3:10 p.m. on March 20, McGlothian-Taylor said. The wallet and contents, which were valued at $120, were in the man's jacket, left hanging on a hook while he was attending physical therapy.Melissa Domsic
