Silence 'Monologues;' keep indecency out

There is a growing movement on college campuses.

Every February, "V-Day" is "celebrated" at hundreds of schools, including MSU this weekend. The centerpiece of "V-Day" is a play called "The Vagina Monologues" in which women are encouraged to embrace the idea that their identity and purpose can be found in their private parts.

This movement began when the organizers of "V-Day" created a campaign specifically targeting college-age women in an effort to convince them that participation in the play will help end violence against women and empower them.

Under the guise of meaningfully addressing this serious issue, the reality of "V-Day" is merely an opportunity to glorify social deviancy and promote sexual perversion while assaulting and condemning men.

The effect that "The Vagina Monologues" and the "V-Day" movement have had on college campuses, including MSU, has been detrimental.

It corrupts our school's learning environment and sends an offensive and disrespectful message to a large number of men and women on our campus.

MSU Young Americans for Freedom are calling on all of the members of the community — students, alumni, the administration, professors, local businesses, legislators and concerned citizens — to help us fight for standards of decency at MSU.

We encourage you to contact the administration to express concern for funds being used to support "pornography."

I hope other students will join us in promoting respect in ways that honor — rather than debase and degrade — women and men on our campus.
