On fire: Michigan men

U-M picked up two wins against top 25 teams this past week and are ranked for the first time since the final poll of the 1997-98 season.

Guard Daniel Horton was named Big Ten Player of the Week.


Cold as ice: Indiana men

The Hoosiers dropped from No. 13 to No. 22 in the rankings after losing two games this past week. On Tuesday, Indiana fell 73-60 to Iowa and then Sunday handed Minnesota its first Big Ten win of the season.


Big-time players

Five Big Ten players were among 30 players named as midseason candidates for the John R. Wooden Award for player of the year. MSU senior guard Maurice Ager (above) and senior center Paul Davis join Illinois' Dee Brown, Indiana's Marco Killingsworth and Wisconsin's Alando Tucker on the list.

On fire: Purdue women

With Sunday's 71-63 victory over Northwestern, the Boilermakers have now won 13 games in a row and are 9-0 in Big Ten play. They're still ranked behind Ohio State in the Associated Press Top 25, even though they beat the Buckeyes on Jan. 1, 61-59. The rematch is set for Feb. 23.


Cold as ice: Michigan women

The Wolverines didn't win a game in the entire month of January. They've lost nine straight games, and are winless in the Big Ten.
