Local events to raise awareness about AIDS

December 1, 2005

World AIDS Day will be celebrated today around the community and on campus with events to raise awareness and education about the disease.

The Lansing Area AIDS Network will be holding a community observance at 11 a.m. followed by a walk against AIDS-related stigma at noon down Abbott Road to the corner of Grand River Avenue.

The Temple Club, 500 E. Grand River Ave., in Lansing, will have information about sexual health set up in the basement with a concert featuring several area bands. At the door donations will be taken for the Lansing Area AIDS Network. The doors open at 8 p.m. and tickets are $6 for 21 and older and $8 for those under 21.

Free and anonymous walk-in HIV testing will be available at the Olin Health Center from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
