Troupe shouldn't be sponsored by Olin

While in Shaw Hall recently, I saw a sign, quite loudly, advertising the In Your Face Reality Troupe. My first impression was that it was a student organization teaching mainstream sex-education; then the group visited Case Hall.

I was in the lounge when the group was preparing for their act. Two things became quickly apparent: First, they are not a student organization but are officially sponsored by Olin Health Center. Second, they go beyond mainstream sex-education.

Their "opening act," after a brief approach, consisted of five or so groups acting out explicit sexual conduct. The various types of sexual activity graphically portrayed by these "actors" included anal sex, vaginal sex and oral sex.

The female actor was provocatively gasping "Give it to me!" as the male portrayed anal sex. Another student who had come to see the show couldn't believe they were engaging in this behavior.

Such explicit and graphic sexual acting is extremely offensive. Such conduct is a perversion of decent society. It is extremely inappropriate in any public situation, but especially when promoted by Olin Health Center.
