Motorcycle memorial

Muskegon resident Dave Johnson looks on during a memorial speech for veterans of all wars classified as missing in action or prisoners of war at the seventh annual Michigan Remembers Run on Saturday.

Johnson, a veteran of the U.S. Navy, said he was fortunate to have been too young to serve in Vietnam.

"There's a feeling in my heart for those guys that didn't come home," he said.

The event also featured a parade of 77 motorcycles, representing each of the Michigan Vietnam veterans classified as MIA or POW, which rode down Michigan Avenue to the Capitol.

Of the 77 soldiers, 22 have had their remains recovered and returned, while 55 are still unaccounted for.
