Two seniors were stuck in the northwest elevator in the Union for about an hour on Sunday.Earth science senior Rachel Gould and physiology senior Julie Hebert said they got in the elevator at about 5:20 p.m. on the third floor of the Union, on their way to get ice cream after studying.The elevator jerked to a stop between the first and second floor. They pressed the alarm button, and police, fire and emergency medical personnel arrived at the scene. A representative for the elevator company was called after about 15 minutes of investigation.After about 15 minutes of work, the elevator raised up so the top third was open to the second floor, and the women were able to get out at about 6:30 p.m.Both women said they were uninjured."It was fun, we were taking pictures on my camera phone," Hebert said, adding they will probably ride an elevator again, "Just not at the Union."The women's friends were waiting for them when they got out, with large takeout containers of ice cream in hand.• A 21-year-old MSU student's $130 car stereo was stolen from his Saturn SL2 parked in Lot 89, the commuter lot, after his passenger-side front door window was broken between April 3 and April 6, MSU police Sgt. Florene McGlothian-Taylor said.Another 21-year-old university student and a Department of Police and Public Safety parking services employee notified police of the broken window, valued at about $100. It was broken with an unknown object, McGlothian-Taylor said.Police still are investigating.• All four tires were slashed on an MSU parking truck Wednesday between 3:40 p.m. and 4:10 p.m. in the basement of the Shaw Lane parking ramp, McGlothian-Taylor said. The dimensions of the slashes and the instrument are unknown, she said.Police still are investigating.Lauren Phillips
