A mattress was set on fire between 2:40 a.m. and 2:45 a.m. Sunday in Butterfield Hall, MSU police Lt. Scott Beckner said.A 21-year-old student saw the mattress smoldering and dragged it outside. The fire was extinguished before police got there, Beckner said. The corner was burnt away, causing $150 in damages to the mattress, he said, adding that there was no damage to the building.There are no suspects, and the case is still under investigation. A 21-year-old female student reported that her 1995 Honda Civic was broken into between Feb. 20 and Friday while it was parked in Lot 65, which circles Brody Hall, Beckner said.When she returned to her car, the window was down, and her steering column was damaged, Beckner said. The only thing missing was a small $5 key chain flashlight, he said.The case is still under investigation.Lauren Phillips
