Master of Fine Art exhibit showcases artwork of degree candidates

Michelle Word works on a piece of her artwork for the upcoming Master of Fine Arts Exhibit during a special tour of MFA Student Studios on Wednesday at the Kresge Art Center.

In the past, Word has focused primarily on painting, but broke into collages as a way to illustrate her concepts of nature and the connection between chaos and pattern, creation and destruction.

"I find the collage process fascinating," Word said. "I feel like I'm making a quilt."

The Master of Fine Arts Exhibit will run from March 28 to April 10 at the Kresge Art Museum and will feature work from the six 2005 degree candidates for the Master of Fine Arts in Studio Art.
