Israeli relations to be discussed today

March 21, 2005

The Spartans for Israel and the Hillel Jewish Student Center will host a presentation called "How Israel Helps to Keep the U.S. Safe After 9/11" at 7:30 p.m. today in parlor rooms B and C in the Union.

Speaker Steve Pomerantz is a former director of the FBI and the FBI's counterterrorism unit.

Pomerantz will discuss how the United States and Israel share resources.

Spartans for Israel President Jennifer Bloom said the event is to make students better aware of the cooperation between the two.

"A lot of students know we support Israel, but don't know what Israel does for us," Bloom said.

Bloom said that since the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks Israel has helped train American intelligence operatives in counterterrorism tactics.
