A 31-year-old male student reported two textbooks were taken from his backpack in the Main Library between 8:40 p.m. and 8:47 p.m. Jan. 12., said MSU police Sgt. Florene McGlothian-Taylor.The student said he had been studying at a table on the first floor of the east wing of the library and had left his table for a few minutes, McGlothian-Taylor said. Upon returning, he found his book bag missing, which he told police he later found in the basement level of the east stairwell of the library. An algebra textbook, valued at $75, and another math textbook, valued at $75, were missing, but a calculator was still in the bag, McGlothian-Taylor said.There are no suspects and the case is still under investigation. A female MSU employee, 27, told police her cell phone was taken from her locked Jenison Field House office between 5 p.m. Jan. 11. and 9:50 a.m. Jan. 12, McGlothian-Taylor said.The 2003 Samsung phone, valued at $180, was on the floor near the employee's desk.There are no suspects and the case is still under investigation, McGlothian-Taylor said.
