Music

• Indie rockers Phantom Planet, touring with their latest self-titled release, will be playing a concert Monday night at the MSU Union Ballroom. The five-man group is known for its California-influenced rock and their latest music video for "Big Brat." If you've ever caught an episode of "The O.C.," chances are you've heard the band's song "California" playing over the opening credits. Steriogram, The Thrills and The Giveaway will open the show.

Doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets are $12 for students and $15 for the general public and can be purchased at CD Warehouse and Flat Black & Circular. For more information, call (517) 355-7733.

• "Come As You Are" to Caffe Latte, 110 Charles St., on Friday night for a 70-minute Nirvana tribute featuring Nirvana cover songs. The show starts at 9 p.m. and costs $3, which includes a drink.

• The award-winning Sheila Landis Trio will visit Creole Gallery, 1218 Turner St. in Lansing, this weekend, to host an unforgettable experience in jazz, bossa nova, samba and poetry. Landis, guitarist Rick Matle and percussionist Dennis Sheridan will perform at 8 p.m. on Friday. For more information, call (517) 487-9549.


Theater

• Jazz up your weekend with "Sarah, Ella & Pops," a world-premiere jazz musical by Janet Choe and directed by Geoffrey Sherman and Gary Anderson. The theatrical production gives tribute to Sarah Vaughan, Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong. Performances will be at 7 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday, 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. on Sunday at BoarsHead Theatre, 425 S. Grand Ave. in Lansing, until April 18. • Those searching for some spiritual inspiration this Easter weekend should check out "Arise," a dramatic musical performance bringing the story of Christ's passion to Mid-Michigan at Mount Hope Church, 202 S. Creyts Road in Lansing. "Arise" tells the story of a group of first-century Christians as they flee Jerusalem after its destruction in 70 A.D. The audience will relive the life, death and resurrection of Christ through the eyes of an elderly traveler - a man who has uniquely experienced Christ's power over the grave. Showtimes are at 7:30 p.m. Friday through Sunday, with an additional 3 p.m. show on Saturday. Admission is free. Child care will be provided. For more information, call (517) 321-2780.


Art

• All week long, the artistic talents of three MSU students were combined into a unique show called "Light, Kitchen, Abstraction," which featured a wide variety of media, including sculpture, ceramics, stained glass and painting. Friday is the last day to check out the display at Kresge Art Center. A closing reception will be held from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday.


Comedy

• Let comedian Andy Campbell lighten up your night at Connxtions Comedy Club, 2900 N. East St. in Lansing. This up-and-coming funnyman, who brings both physical comedy and social critique to the stage, has appeared on "The X Show" on the FX Network. Jeremy Greenberg and Brett Sullivan will open for his act. Shows are at 7:45 p.m. and 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Tickets are $10.
