A memorial service will take place later this month for Ernst Lucas, known to many members of the MSU community as Ernie the Can Man.

Lucas died in January at the age of 68.

The memorial is being planned by his brothers, Jack Lucas of West Hartford, Conn., and Alexander Lucas of Rochester, Minn. Telecommunication, information studies and media senior Manal Karadsheh is helping the brothers coordinate the ceremony.

Those wishing to attend the service are asked to bring an empty can or bottle. Profits will be donated to a cause that has yet to be decided.

The service will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. on March 20 in the Union parlor rooms.
