Traffic committee to hold public hearing

February 17, 2004

The All-University Traffic and Transportation Committee will hold a public forum Thursday to discuss recommendations that could improve traffic safety across campus.

The committee will meet at 3 p.m. in the north conference room of the Main Library, followed by a public hearing at 3:30 p.m. Students and members of the community are encouraged to attend both, said parking enforcement supervisor Dawn Mazur.

"We'd like to get participation so they can have voice in the decisions that are made on this campus," Mazur said.

The committee is hoping to hear concerns people might have about traffic safety on campus.

The major topics at this year's meeting include reviewing north campus traffic, bicycle and pedestrian safety and long-term planning of parking, traffic and transportation on campus.

The committee meets once a month to discuss traffic and transportation patterns on campus. A public forum similar to Thursday's is usually held once a year.

Recommendations made during the meeting will be forwarded in April to Fred Poston, MSU vice president for finance and operations, who will make a final decision on any policy changes.
