Returning from the Mid-Missouri Invitational Tournament with a number of successes, including taking fifth place out of 36 teams, the MSU Mock Trial Team is looking to head into the regional tournament at the University of Notre Dame on Feb. 14-15.

The four-year team has done surprisingly well, considering its youth to the competitions, Mock Trial President Beth Springsteen said.

The teams prepare fictional trials based on scenarios they are given before their tournaments.

Then they are required to act as prosecution and defense attorneys as well as the witnesses.

While a majority of the team's 14 members are pre-law students, there are still many members from a variety of majors who participate, Springsteen said.

"It's really interesting to see what each major brings to the table," she said.
