GEU, 'U' arbitration rescheduled for April

Arbitration between the Graduate Employees Union and the university has been rescheduled for April 16.

The arbitration concerns a grievance filed by the GEU in November charging that the university was wrongfully taking benefits from GEU members by reclassifying teaching assistant positions as instructors.

The original arbitration was set for Jan. 28, but was canceled because of weather conditions.

GEU President Scott Henkel said he did not think the wait would have any affect on the arbitration.

"These things always take a long time," Henkel said. "I always wish these things would go much more quickly."

The GEU also will begin new membership recruitment later this month.
