Doris Pilkington, author of "Following the Rabbit-Proof Fence" will speak at 7 p.m. today in the Gold Room of the Union.
She will discuss the treatment of the aboriginal people in Australia as a stolen generation, as well as the story of her mother.
The book, which inspired the award-winning movie "Rabbit-Proof Fence" follows her mother Molly, who escaped from a reservation with her sister and her cousin and traveled more that 1,500 miles to find their way home following a fence spanning western Australia in 1931.
There is no charge for the event and anyone is invited to attend.
The event is sponsored by several campus organizations and offices.
