Animal Planet's Jeff Corwin to speak Tuesday at Auditorium

November 17, 2003

Television personality and conservationist Jeff Corwin will visit MSU's campus this week, speaking on endangered species and ecosystems and meeting with students.

Corwin, the host of Animal Planet's "The Jeff Corwin Experience," will speak Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. in the MSU Auditorium as part of the M. Peter and Joanne M. McPherson Endowed Professorship for the Understanding of Science.

The event is free to the public, and no tickets are needed to attend.

Corwin also will sign copies of his new book, "Living on the Edge: Amazing Relationships in the Natural World," after his talk.

On Wednesday, Corwin will meet with students and teachers in biology and journalism classes.

"He's an attraction to students involved in science and to students who aren't involved in science," said Professor Nicholas Mercuro, one of the event's coordinators. "His following ranges from middle schoolers to college-age people and adults."

Corwin became well-known with his first television series, "Going Wild! With Jeff Corwin," a show that aired on the Disney Channel from 1997 to 1999.
