Psychological clinic offers screenings

The MSU Psychological Clinic will offer free mental health screenings in Olds Hall from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday as part of the National Depression Screening Day, an annual effort to properly diagnose depression.

Organizers of the event suggest students come down to the screenings if they have had symptoms of depression for two weeks or more.

"People with depression often have sleep disturbances," said Jennifer Sachek, a clinical psychology graduate student and clinic Intake worker. "They are often worried or have feelings of worthlessness, have a hard time finding enjoyment in things that used to make them happy.

"It is pretty common to go undiagnosed. It is a psychological disorder that can be treated."

All screenings will be completely anonymous and are available to anyone from the Lansing area, as well as the MSU community. For more information, call (517) 355-9564.
