Native American fair to bring food, craft

The Nokomis Learning Center, a Native American cultural center, is having its fall festival from 2-7 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 20 at the center, 5153 Marsh Road in Okemos.

Traditional native foods will be available for sampling and sale, contemporary native music and presentations on native plants and their uses.

Children can participate in a craft workshop at 3 or 4 p.m. for $1 per child.

Historic photographs by Grace Chandler, featuring Native American communities in upper Michigan, will be on exhibit.

From 5-7 p.m. there will be a picnic on the lawn while listening to live music by Acoustic Warriors, a Native American folk-rock duo. Everyone can bring their own picnic dinner or purchase native foods at the event.

The event is free and open to the public.
