'U' students donate school supplies to Lansing children

MSU students will donate $250 in school supplies to Lansing elementary schoolchildren on Friday.

Starting at 3 p.m. at Red Cedar Elementary School, 1110 Narcissus Drive, the children will collect the school supplies from three decorated boxes. The boxes will contain glue, pens, pencils, construction paper and calculators.

Darrell King, assistant director of the Multicultural Business Program, said it's the second year MSU business students have gathered school supplies for underprivileged kids.

The participating MSU students took part in the Summer Business Institute program, which is sponsored by MSU's Eli Broad College of Business and helps ease incoming MSU business students into the demands of college life.

King said in a statement that the donations are a vital part of MSU's contributions to the greater Lansing community.
