The U.S. Department of Agriculture presented MSU Extension specialist Mark Hansen with the Honor Award in Washington, D.C..
Hansen is the chairperson of the Extension Disaster Education Network, which also received an award in the Heroism and Emergency Response category.
The network is one of this year's 85 winners.
Each winner represented a different service field, such as disease control, scientific research and environmental innovations.
