Faculty member leaves 'U' to teach in Germany

A MSU faculty member will be leaving the green and white when she takes off for Berlin in September.

Mei Zhuang, an associate professor of mechanical engineering, was named a Fulbright Senior Scholar and will live in Germany for 10 months, teaching and researching at the Technische Universitat Berlin.

Her research will focus on developing computational aeroacoustics tools to be used in the noise prediction systems of turbofan engines. Her research will fall in line with a graduate level course she teaches on computational aeroacoustics methodology and application.

Zhuang will join 800 faculty members and professionals from the United States who are participating in the Fullbright Scholar Program across 140 countries. Recipients are chosen based on their academic and professional achievement and leadership in their various career fields.

The program began in 1946 and is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State and the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.
