MSU's Department of History is presenting its 2003 Lecture Series, "September 11 Historical Frameworks: Secularism, Nationalism, Islamism."
Political science Professor Mark Tessler and Samuel J. Eldersveld, a University of Michigan professor, are guest speakers. The lecture is titled, "The Israeli-Palestinian Conflict in 2003."
Another lecture will take place April 1 with independent scholar Sandra Mackey on "Iraq and the Legacy of Saddam Hussein." April 8 will feature U-M history Professor Juan Cole presenting "The Struggle for the Soul of Iran: Hardliners, Liberal Muslims and the Future of Theocracy."
Director of Center for South Asian Studies at U-M in South Asia Ashutosh Varshney will wrap up the series with his April 15 lecture "Can Civil Society Moderate Ethnic Conflict? Reflections on Hindu-Muslim Violence."
The speakers are at 8 p.m. in Room 206 Old Horticulture Hall.
