An East Lansing retailer and MSU students are working together this weekend to promote good fashion and have a good time.
The "Allure Fashion & Music Show," sponsored by the University Activities Board, hits the International Center at 9 p.m. Saturday.
The show features 15 MSU students who will model clothing from Cool Waves, 115 E. Grand River Ave., a recent addition to East Lansing's merchants.
Cool Waves sells club wear, specializing in the trends of the Miami area.
"Cool Waves provided clothing for 15 models, about four outfits per model," said UAB member Eric Bolf. "They are going to be walking down a runway for about an hour and we will have bands and live acts performing as they do."
All models are MSU students, Bolf said, with most of them being professional models, sorority members or campus organization members.
"After the fashion show, we're going to have a professional sound crew come in and play music," he said.
"There's going to be a dance afterward, it's like a post-show party."
Hoping to have a big turnout at the event, the UAB will be awarding attendees more than 50 gift certificates to Cool Waves.
"If we can get a good crowd, it's going to be videotaped by the filmmakers club and may go on channel 12," he said.
Live entertainment will be provided by Spartan Idol contest winner Evin Martin, MSU student and local rap artist Chad Phillips as well as the winner of January's Dave Matthews Band cover contest.
"It should be pretty cool and pretty fun, we've been working hard on it for a while," Bolf said.
The fashion show, modeled after MTV's Fashionably Loud, will end around 10:30 p.m. but live entertainment will carry on until 1 a.m. Sunday.
