The Department of Telecommunication could be renamed the Department of Telecommunication, Information Studies and Media if approved in the Academic Governance system.

The proposal was sent to two committees for consideration and will appear before the Executive Committee of Academic Council at the next meeting on March 11.

In a letter to MSU Provost Lou Anna Simon, College of Communication Arts and Sciences Dean James Spaniolo said the addition of "Information Studies and Media" is necessary to clarify the characteristics of the program.
