The MSU women's tennis team evened its record at 2-2, shutting out Toledo 7-0 on Sunday.
No Spartan dropped a single set.
Junior Caroline Lay was part of the day's toughest matchup as she defeated Toledo's Monica Ribero 7-5, 6-2 in No. 1 singles.
"I always felt confident throughout the match," Lay said. "I was patient and let the game come to me."
Lay is filling in for sophomore Dora Vastag, who is sidelined until midseason.
"If we get Dora back by Big Ten play, we can be pretty good," head coach Tim Bauer said. "We'll have to shuffle the lineup, but we'll be very competitive."
Sophomore Keri Thompson had her first singles action of the season, winning 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 5 position.
In doubles play, freshmen Shelley Brady and Jean Willmann brought their record to 3-0 on the season as they won 8-1.
The Spartans host Bowling Green at 6 p.m. Friday at the MSU Indoor Tennis Facility.
