Clubs
- Eco will be meeting at 7:30 tonight in the Illinois Room in the Union to discuss improving MSU's green record. All are welcome to help push the energy campaign.
- Students for Economic Justice will hold its weekly meeting at 8 p.m. Tuesday in the 2nd floor lobby of the Union. Anyone is welcome.
- Student Greenhouse Project will hold its weekly meeting at 9:30 tonight in the Minnesota Room, 3rd floor of the Union. The group is preparing a tropical valley and invites you to come and help.
- The MSU Aikido Club will meet at 6:45 p.m. Thursday in IM Sports-West. All are welcome. No experience necessary.
- The MSU Chess Club will be meeting at 7:30 p.m. Monday in A-517 Wells Hall. Bring your own equipment. For more information, e-mail msuchess@msu.edu.
Events
- Abrams Planetarium will be showing "The Search for Life in the Universe" at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 4 p.m. Sunday. Admission for adults is $3; students and seniors $2.50; children ages 12 and under $2. A current sky talk will follow all shows with outdoor observation held after evening shows as sky conditions permit.
- Asian Studies Spring Colloquium Series - Globalization and Local Rights: Asian Perspectives will present "Why Openness isn't Enough: Labour and Globalization in China" by Mary Gallagher from the University of Michigan at 4 p.m. Monday in Room 201 International Center.
- Department of Romance and Classical Languages will be showing "Les Glaneurs et la Glaneuse" as part of its Romance Language Film Series at 5:30 p.m. Friday.
- Environmental Economics and Policy Club will host a Graduate School Workshop from 4-6 p.m. Thursday in Room 75 Agriculture Hall. Any students interested in learning about graduate study in environmentally-related degree programs may attend this panel discussion on choosing and applying to grad school, assisting your education and professor expectations.
- Libraries, Computing & Technology is hosting a Friday Night Film Series at 7 p.m. Friday in Room W449 Main Library. This week's film will be "The Five Senses," a 1999 independent film written and directed by Jeremy Podeswa. Michael Unsworth, Canadian studies librarian, will introduce the film and lead discussion afterward.
- Michigan State Hillel will sponsor Krav Maga, the Art of Israeli Self-Defense at 7 tonight at the MSU Hillel Jewish Student Center, 360 Charles St. World-renowned instructor Isaac Cohen, 10th Dan, will give a rare performance and workshop at no charge. Classes will be taught for a fee at Hillel every Monday.
- Michigan State Sustainable Agriculture Network will host Composting of Tanner Biosolids: Creating a Bridge of Sustainability Between Industry and Agriculture at noon Thursday in Room 222 Erickson Hall. Mac MacDonnell, environmental engineer for Eagle Ottawa Leather Company's Grand Haven plant, will highlight some of the changes that have been made to lessen its environmental footprint and also how these changes have resulted in the creation of a link with agriculture that has helped close a loop on wastes.
- United Black Caucus will hold its first Black History Program at 3 p.m. Sunday in the Auditorium's Fairchild Theatre. This year's theme is "Linked by Our Past Bound by Our Future." Admission is free, but limited to the first 1,500 people. For information, contact Denard W. Williamson at willi904@msu.edu.
- Urban Dreams will hold an informational meeting at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the Illinois Room, 3rd floor of the Union. Urban Dreams is a new hip-hop coed dance group looking for new members. All are welcome. Diversity is valued.
Organizational Meetings
- MSU Women's Council will be meeting at 9 tonight in Room 441 of the Union. The discussion topic will be reproductive freedom and the 30th anniversary of the Roe v. Wade decision.
- The History Association of Michigan State will be meeting at 7:30 tonight in 108 Morrill Hall. This week's speaker is Emily Tabuteau, director of undergraduate affairs for the History Department. All majors welcome.
- Women in Business Students' Association will be holding a general membership meeting with Trustee Joe Ferguson at 6:15 tonight in Room N100 Business College. Ferguson will be speaking on working in a male-dominated field, resume and cover letter tips and more. Food will be served.
