Coach hits mark in wrestling weekend

January 27, 2003

Spartans wrestling head coach Tom Minkel recorded his 100th victory at MSU on Friday as his team dismantled Northwestern 33-7.

But MSU (3-5, 1-1 Big Ten) couldn't maintain its winning ways through the weekend, falling Saturday to No. 5 Minnesota, 22-14 in Minneapolis.

MSU seniors Gray Maynard and Karl Nadolsky inched closer to the century mark in wins. Nadolsky brought his overall record to 98-48 by winning both of his weekend matches while Maynard's record went to 93-34 as he split in weekend competition.

The Spartans return home to face No. 21 Wisconsin at 7 p.m. Friday at Jenison Field House.
