Design Day to be held at Union today

The MSU Department of Engineering is having its 16th annual Design Day today at various places from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Union.

MSU students and middle and high school students throughout the state will come together to display and demonstrate a variety of engineering projects the students have built and designed.

This year's projects include a heat transfer device, a materials handling system used in the mining industry, and the development of a low-cost tilt and telescoping steering column for cars.

The annual event offers a chance for the public to view the designs of students.

With the aid of professional manufacturers, the students were able to conceptualize design and build projects that pertain to issues affecting the world.

Some of the sponsors for this semester included Delphi Automotive Systems in Saginaw, Dow Automotive in Auburn Hills and Ford Motor Company in Dearborn.
